Municipal partnerships, civil society engagement and joint projects between Hesse and Namibia.
The climate partnership between the town of Pfungstadt (Hesse) and the town of Oshikuku in northern Namibia is an outstanding example of active municipal cooperation across continents.
During his twelve years as mayor of Pfungstadt, Honorary Consul Patrick Koch played a decisive role in shaping and developing this partnership. Numerous citizens’ trips, social projects and personal encounters have lastingly enriched the exchange between the two municipalities.
Today this partnership serves as the foundation of the consular work and as a model for further cooperation between Hessian municipalities and Namibian towns.
